About The Ranch Motel

The Ranch Motel is an iconic, midcentury roadside motel catering to travelers along the highway, I- 5. It is located 10 miles north of Oakland, Oregon, and halfway between Portland and Medford, about an hour south of the college town of Eugene.

The property’s unique A-frame structures have been beckoning travelers from the road since 1962, the heyday of the American motor lodge. The roadside vernacular architecture is emblematic of the post war optimism and designed to capture the attention of passing motorists and that it does! The A-frame emerged in the 1930s, as Modernist architects began reworking this simple, but solid structure. It gained a new level of popularity as a small and inexpensive vacation home from the 1950s through the 1970s. Recently, the shape has made a comeback with the growing interest in everything mid-century and we love to share the spirit of this historic place! The units are a mix of 15 cabins with lofts and 10 smaller, standard cabins. They have an intriguing mix of woodsy cabin meets Mid-Century Modern, with fun touches throughout.
